Centrifuge Systems Inc (centrifuge)
The purpose of this policy is to assist you in understanding how we collect, use and transfer personally identifiable data from you, an individual person and website visitor, through Centrifuge’s publicly accessible websites, including but not limited to the Centrifuge Systems corporate site located at www.centrifugesystems.com and Centrifuge’s web-based product evaluation website (collectively the “site”). This policy applies to personal information collected through this site. Centrifuge encourages you to read this policy before interacting with the site. By providing any personal information to Centrifuge via Centrifuge websites or email addresses, you agree to these terms.
This statement covers only data collected through the site and not any other data collection or processing, including, without limitation, data collection practices of webpages to which the site links, or data that we or our affiliates collect offline or through webpages that do not display a direct link to this statement. The site is controlled and operated by Centrifuge from the United States, and is not intended to subject Centrifuge to the laws or jurisdiction of any state, country or territory other than that of the United States. Centrifuge does not represent or warrant that the site, or any part thereof, is appropriate or available for use in any particular jurisdiction. Those who choose to access the site do so on their own initiative and at their own risk, and are responsible for complying with all local laws, rules and regulations. We may limit the site’s availability, in whole or in part, to any person, geographic area or jurisdiction we choose, at any time and in our sole discretion.
Types of Data and Collection Methods
Through the site, we receive data that you actively submit as well as data that we track:
Actively Submitted Data: When you request information, subscribe to a mailing list or for a service, respond to an online survey, request a product evaluation, or otherwise actively send us data, we usually collect data such as your name, e-mail address(es), mailing address(es), telephone number(s), and certain information related to the business you represent. You can opt out of providing information by not entering it when asked and, if such information is required in order to allow us to respond to your inquiry, you will receive a notice advising you of this. In each such instance, you will know what data we collect through the site, because you actively submit it. Actively submitted data also includes: i) Content that you may elect to upload to the site and save during your web-based product evaluation, and ii) Any derivative works that you create from your uploaded data or Company-provided sample data and save on the site during your product evaluation. Centrifuge stores, processes and maintains any documents that you upload to the site and save during your web-based product evaluation. However, you should not upload confidential information during your evaluation as the Company has not implemented data security controls and procedures that guarantee the confidentiality of product evaluation-related content.
Combinations: Unless you also actively submit personal information such as your name or address, passively tracked data does not typically allow us to identify you personally (even though it can theoretically be done, we do not have the means or an interest to find out who you are, unless you identify yourself voluntarily through an active submission of data). To the extent permitted by applicable law, we reserve the right to combine passively tracked data with personal data that you actively submit.
Web-Based Centrifuge Software Evaluations
If you request an online (web-based) Centrifuge software evaluation, the Company will request certain personal information such as your name, email account, company name, etc. If approved, Centrifuge will send you a username and password for your personal use during the evaluation. We may collect certain information about your use of the Company’s software and site (e.g., storage usage, number of log-ins, actions taken), data displayed or clicked on (e.g., UI elements, links), and other log information (e.g., browser type, IP address, date and time of access, cookie ID, referrer URL). We use this information internally to deliver the best possible service to you, such as improving the software user interface and maintaining a consistent and reliable user experience.
Files you create during your evaluation may, if you choose, be shared with others. Do not include sensitive personal information in documents you upload, modify, create and/or share, and do not assume that the Company’s information security controls will protect the confidentiality of any information that you upload, modify or create during the evaluation process.
Any files that you upload, create or modify may be deleted by the Company at the conclusion of your software evaluation. Because of the way we maintain this service, residual copies of your files and other information associated with your account may remain on our servers for longer periods of time.
Collection Purposes, Use of Data
We collect passively tracked data primarily for purposes of administering, protecting and improving our site and our systems, to better understand the preferences of our site visitors, to identify server problems, to compile aggregated statistics about site usage, and to help personalize your experience on our site. We collect actively submitted dataprimarily for two purposes: Firstly, for the purpose for which you originally sent us the data (e.g., to provide information to you or sign you up for a free trial, or to enhance your product evaluation experience by using the Company’s software with your own data); and secondly, for purposes of contacting you to further discuss your interest in our Company, our software and services and ways we can improve them, and to provide information on Company products, services, promotions and events. You can opt out of receiving marketing emails as explained below.
Disclosure of Personal Information
We are not in the business of selling or renting your information to telemarketers and we do not share your personally identifiable information with others, except as follows: We may share information with trusted business partners, such as system integrators, distributors, and referral partners and any other party specifically identified on the page on which you submit your information. We engage agents and service providers who process data only on our behalf and for our purposes under confidentiality agreements. We may share your information as required by law or in the interest of protecting or exercising our or others’ legal rights, e.g., without limitation, in connection with requests from law enforcement officials and in connection with court proceedings. We reserve the right to transfer any and all information that we collect from site users to an affiliated entity or a third party in the event of any reorganization, merger, sale, joint venture, assignment, transfer or other disposition of all or any portion of Centrifuge’ business, assets or stock (including without limitation in connection with any bankruptcy or similar proceedings). Also, we reserve the right to fully use and disclose any information that is not in personally identifiable form (such as statistics and survey results that do not identify you individually by name).
In connection with promotions or other projects, we may ask you specifically whether you have objections against a certain kind of data use or sharing. If you opt-out under such circumstances, we will respect your decision. To opt out of receiving commercial communications from Centrifuge, please click on the “opt-out” link in the communication or, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note that our affiliates and other data recipients have their own data privacy policies, which may differ from ours and you would have to contact them separately with respect to opt-out requests.
If personal information you have submitted through the site is no longer accurate, current, or complete, and you wish to update it, please send an e-mail to email@example.com. Upon appropriate request we will usually be glad to update or amend your information, but we reserve the right to use information obtained previously to verify your identity or take other actions that we believe are appropriate.
